Yes, we are currently accepting new patients!
We welcome new patients! Looking for a new dentist can be a difficult process. We hope to make it as simple as possible for you. Please call us at (301) 588 - 3333 with any questions and to help set up an initial exam.
What To Expect At Your First Appointment
First, make sure you understand how to get to us! You can find that info here.
New patient exams start with collecting your medical history and collecting dental insurance information, if applicable. Arriving a few minutes early to your first appointment can be helpful in creating a stress free experience.
Once seated in the exam area and any questions you may have are answered, X-ray radiographs will be taken according to your specific needs. Dr. Nix will review the radiographs with you and will conduct a comprehensive exam. This includes, but is not limited to; a head and mouth examination, TMJ evaluation, periodontal exam, caries inspection, oral cancer screening and soft tissue exam.
Dr. Nix will create and give you a printed copy of a treatment plan if any treatment is required. This will list any treatments recommended, the cost of each treatment, an estimate of your insurance coverage, and an estimate of what your insurance requires you to pay (if any). Dr. Nix will review the treatment plan with you and answer any questions that arise.
Unless any specific treatments are required, we will then typically complete a dental hygiene appointment with a prophylaxis (dental cleaning). Any subsequent appointments can be scheduled as necessary.
